With the 2016 Olympic games taking place in Rio, I was lucky enough to be invited to OFF THE WALL POP UP X THE SUPPER CLUB BRAZIL at +27Cafe in Hatfield last weekend.
We were welcomed with caparinhas to get the evening started. Seated banquet style with about 50 other guests.
The chef Khanya Mzongwana had our taste buds wagging. We started with an authenthic salad, with chorizo, avocado, sweet potato, red kidney beans, fresh tomato, baby spinach and red onion.
Followed by fried hallomi with a orange sauce.
The main course was a spicy pork stew called feijoda which I discovered is Brazil’s national dish.
The final course was quindim, a coconut and cashew crumble layered dessert, with a hint of naartjie (a south african citrus flavour)
What an incredible evening, a taste of Brazil in the capital.
