After a relaxing spa day, my boyfriend and I were escorted to Granita, Kievits Kroon’s Signature restaurant.
As we were seated our server Jafta provided us with the wine list. We settled on a glass of Shiraz and a glass of Merlot blended specially for Kievits Kroon in the Western Cape.
Straight after we were served an amuse bouche, Basil goat’s cheese and melon which was sweet and salty.
We also had some bread with herb butter, balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
Lunch was a five course set menu, which changes seasonally.
The starter was a grilled pear and blue cheese salad with honey and pecan dressing, served with a few tangy strawberries which went well with the blue cheese and honey dressing.
The 2nd course was a broccoli soup, served in little tea cups. I am not a fan of soup in Summer but this really appeased my taste buds.
The 3rd course was grilled prawns with pea puree and cumin foam.
For the main course we were served grilled beef fillet, medium rare as per our request with potato fondant, mushroom puree, baby onions, baby corn, peppers, mange tout and a beef jus.
For the 5th and final course we were served a deconstructed passion fruit cheese cake for dessert. A lovey take on a cheese board with a few crumbed biscuits and passion fruit sauce and strawberries with chocolate sauce.
We enjoyed this lovely meal, overlooking this beautiful estate, its easy to see why Kievits Kroon is known as the winelands in Gauteng.
Definitely worth the drive out to Montana Park in Pretoria North.
