We were invited to attend a Bollywood inspired evening at The Capital Hotel School based in Arcadia, Pretoria presented by their 2nd year students.


We were welcomed by our hosts dressed in traditional Indian attire and served an Indian inspired welcome shot.

The dining hall was decorated in burgundy and gold, all of the tables had a golden tree in the center that represented a different city from India.


We were served an amouse bouche of sweet corn soup and a Chana (chickpea) Masala samosa with two types of flat breads, naan and roti.


Our starter was a variety of dishes Hyderajali biryani, chili mushrooms, lamb boti kebab, aloo gabi (cauliflower and potato), chana (chickpea) flour pancakes, tomato and date chutney and stuffed ubergines.

IMG_7128We were served a passion fruit sorbet between the starter and the main to cleanse our pallets.


For mains we were served butter chicken, spicy fish curry and pilau rice, in addition, parsi sali boti, dhal, sambals, beetroot and ginger chutney, cucumber raita and steak kebabs were also served.


For dessert we were served carrot halva and rose water, coconut cream and pistachio kheer.



After dinner were served Chai tea and a variety of friandise namely, sweet meats consisting of coconut ice, jalebi and gulab jamum to name a few.


IMG_7147The evening was filled with great conversation and entertainment of traditional Indian dances. The evening was in aid of Tshwane Child Welfare to raise awareness and funds for this phenomenal organization.


We were truly impressed by the great cuisine, entertainment and service received from all the students.
